[So. Christmas was over. Things were settling from the draft. Kotetsu is ready to go out and start this day; he dresses like usual, puts on his hat and adjusts his tie, and moves out the door—and he sees, down the hall, a small group of droids. They turn and look at him, and they're already walking dangerously fast toward his front door from down the way. He slams the door back and runs into his bedroom, slamming that door as well. Not much time, then. He knew what they were here for. Without a moment of pause he slips off his ring and leaves it on the dresser, scared to lose it again, and flips open his journal, sloppily writing a note.]
prooobably gonna be taken by the robots for a while, take care of yourselves — kotetsu
[And then he leaves out the window, glowing blue. They're following pretty quickly, and even with his power on they're proving hard to get rid of. He makes a break for the forest. He runs as fast as he can until he's a good distance, leaning against a tree and heaving a breath. He's so used to using this damn PDA. He didn't even leave it at home. He couldn't, really.
Please don't be afraid to ask for help, if you need it.
You can trust me.
He hears the droids already catching up, and brings up the voice function; he didn't want to tell him what was happening. He really didn't. Barnaby was stressed out as it was with the holidays; him calling him to fight a fruitless fight didn't matter. But. He promised. If he was ever in over his head, he'd let Bunny know.
He talks into the call bracelet the moment it connects, nervous.]
Bunny—
You remember that robot problem they have here?
[Yeah, he was a goner. Sorry, aibou. But at least he's telling you upfront, right?]

Still, she wishes you all the best, Hero.
And...may check in on your sassy partner while you're gone 8|]
sonuvabitch
he stiffens and raises his wrist. ]
Kotetsu? What's wrong? Where are you?
things happen, man. HAVE A GOOD NEW YEAR WITHOUT ME
The forest; listen--I guess it's my turn to get dragged off--
[He's cut off when one of the droids flies from the brush and throws him backwards when he moves to defend. There's nothing fun about bouncing along the ground like a hockey puck, but at least his power's still functioning for another two minutes.
He staggers to his feet and moves to run again, but another droid is right there and he's thrown again right back where he landed from the first hit. He staggers up to his feet again.]
Tch... These guys are pretty good... guess the books aren't lying...!
[You'd think they had 100 power or something. The malnosso must be making weird H-01, man.]
i pretty much hate you
the cold, hard fingers of panic close around his heart, and barnaby's breath catches, his blood running cold with adrenaline. and without even stopping to think about it he takes off, sprinting as fast as he can for the border of town. he doesn't know which direction kotetsu might be in, he doesn't know if it's even worst fighting it, but he just can't let it go like that, not when he can hear it -- ]
Just hang on! What side of town are you on?
no, no. you love me.
[Whatever he's about to say is cut off by a pained noise, and in the distant forest a tree topples over and stirs up birds. If you're wondering whether or not they threw him through a tree trunk then... yes. Yes, they did. Fun times.]
no.
I'm coming--
:'C
They're realizing that he's powered and needs to not be, so when one of their hands expand to show one (1) syringe, Kotetsu's definitely alerted to what they plan on doing with that shit.]
Oi, oi, don't even think about it, you bastards!
[He grits his teeth, throwing one off him while the other clings to him by the shoulder and arm. He's strong, but he's not strong enough to get three droids off him once they have a death grip on him. He struggles while they tilt his head to expose his neck, as the syringe draws close. They're too strong to shake off, they're too strong--]
Wait--!

.. well, in time to postpone the inevitable, at least.
he's nothing but a blue blur crashing into the scene, leaping high and slamming down on the droid with the syringe with all the force he can muster, bowling the thing over. its grip is so strong that even the immense force of his kick isn't enough to knock it from the robot's grasp, but the syringe is only glass, and it shatters instantly.
he lands gracefully, churning up snow and dirt and grass beneath the soles of his boots, then whips around and immediately plunges forward again. ]
Get off of him!

Stumbling backward toward Bunny, he rubs his forehead. There's a lovely bump on his hairline, thanks, malnosso droids. Breathlessly:]
H-hey.
[:|;; how's it going]

barnaby's assault is relentless. he descends on the droid again, quick and hard and with the force of a freight train, but to his dismay they are hardly damaged at all. sure, he's knocking them aside, but that's about all -- any other damage is minimal at best.
kicking off of the shoulders of the nearest droid, barnaby lands behind kotetsu, covering his back, tense and angry and just a little frightened. there are so many of them, closing in, and god this feels so familiar in a way that makes his stomach twist. ]
..Hey.
no subject
Think they have any weaknesses?
Blunt punching doesn't seem to be doing much.
[Focus, Kotetsu, they're all moving in again. Except now they're all working to kick both of our asses. It comes with trying to help your friend, alas, Barnaby.]
no subject
but that isn't going to stop him. he'll defend kotetsu tooth and nail, he'll do whatever it takes, he has to. giving them a quick look-over, barnaby squints and readies himself as the first droid approaches. ]
The joints.
[ it's an educated guess. crippling the androids is about the best that they can hope to do; all-out defeat seems out of the question. if only they carried giant destructive plasma guns. ducking a punch that comes way too close for comfort, barnaby sweeps a low, powerful kick right to the android's knees, knocking it aside.
but two more surge in to replace it, and behind them, the first one is climbing to its feet again, all but undamaged. ]

Ha. Stupid robot.
But it hardly keeps the damn thing from grabbing him by the collar and flipping him harshly onto his back. He coughs in surprise, but that's all he needs before he's re-cooperated and slams the sole of his shoe right back into the knee again, listening to the crunch that follows.
It's progressively working.
He yanks himself free, letting the droid keep his tie as he rolls back to his feet.]
Hitting the same place a lot seems to do more damage...!

barnaby kicks out at the elbow of a reaching arm, then again, and again, until the joint is all but mangled. but that's just one of many, and it just takes too much time. a droid darts in from the right and seizes his leg by the ankle, throwing him effortlessly to the ground at the feet of a pack of droids, which immediately leap to subjugate him.
they're probably going to be red-flagged, aren't they. ]
1/2
Bunny...!!
[Kotetsu flies into action, slamming his shoulder into one of them and grabbing another by the arm, ready to throw him—]
2/3 lies
shit]

Out of time. Damn.
As he shakes his head, trying to get his vision on track, the droid that had smashed into him walks toward him, as eerily quiet as ever.]
no subject
Kotetsu!
[ they grab his wrists and ankles and god they're so strong, fighting them is impossible. H-01 had been impossible, even two-on-one, but here they are severely outnumbered, without their power suits, and kotetsu even without his hundred power. he fights and kicks and slams into them but there's nothing he can do. desperate panic claws at his chest. ]
No!
no subject
[If he'd been planning to say anything more, a droid with a syringe still intact plunged the needle into his collar, drawing a pained grunt from Kotetsu. Already, his vision was blurring in and out, and he strained to keep awake.]
Jus'... don't hurt 'im... We're done...
[The other droids don't let go of Barnaby, but the two carrying Kotetsu start off into the forest with their captive, oblivious to anything Barnaby's saying; only one goal in mind, and they've completed it.]
no subject
No, bring him back here! Don't you dare take him from me, you bastards! Wait! Wait!
[ it's useless. kotetsu is dragged off, and the droids remain, pinning him down as he struggles and fights, then finally falls slack. his power is spent, his body is spent, and he's silent. five long minutes pass, and only when the droids deem it safe do they let up, quickly pulling away from him and moving, single file, in the direction their brethren had moved off in. barnaby does not follow. ]
why did i spend so much time on this
Well.
So much for asking Mr. Tiger if he was going to the New Year's party at Seventh Heaven. It would be too much to ask that the Malnosso return him in one piece by then, would it?
Pao-lin closes her journal with a sigh. She's seen the effects of the Malnosso kidnappings on a couple of her friends by this point, but this is the second one she's actually "witnessed", for a certain definition of the term. She tries not to think about how helpless and small it makes her feel, knowing that the Malnosso can take anyone they want at any time and do whatever they want to them. There's so much good in Luceti, there's more than enough proof of that...but so much terror, too. More than Heroes can handle, it seems.
At some point when she's out for the day, her feet take her over to CH1's third floor, in front of Kotetsu's apartment. She knocks on his door, not really expecting an answer; in fact as soon as she knocks she turns around to leave, scowling at the unfairness of everything. Nothing to be done now but take out her frustrations on hapless opponents in the Battle Dome.]

... Damn it.]
