wildkotetsu | 10 • World Records • [Action/Voice]

[Kotetsu's had a really tough 8 weeks, but he's getting better. After all, he has a few nosy bros who don't leave him alone, especially at Seventh Heaven; he's passed the point of sleeping bad hours and he's at least getting some perspective on his life here--mainly, that as long as he can fight, he can find some ridiculous self-made repentance for 'that thing that happened' about two months ago. That thing we shan't bring up, unless we want a frown and a long moment to himself. He's been keeping up, at least. Even though he'd been frustrated that Bil had died--and at the fact that there was a death toll in general--he was relieved to be capable. He helped more than he'd ever helped before, he thinks, with Luceti as a whole.

It made things a little easier.

So he keeps himself active and busy with that in mind. He knows that if his powers fail him he needs to be prepared. He spends time each day at the battle dome to practice some simple hand-to-hand fighting, making sure he's not getting any duller, and working his muscles. Mostly replicating punching bags, simple things. He's not a flashy guy, and frankly, he's not a fan of holograms anyway. He's been trying to talk to the spirits, too. In fact, at one point he's gotten himself a few mean burns from the fire guy--y'know, he thinks... maybe the spirit doesn't like him. Or something.

But by god, he keeps trying. And he might be slowly getting him to cooperate, though he's out to buy burn ointment regardless. B|

He also keeps up his work at Seventh Heaven, though... he's not quiiite sure how he ended up being an employee instead of a volunteer. Sometimes at night he creeps on over and does some busy work, when sleeping feels too difficult. Ah well. Might as well keep up some work, right?

One particular day, he happens upon an interesting book. Definitely not from his earth, but still. Cool.]

Oi, oi, did you see this world records book in the library? It's really cool! [Dated 2008, but whatever. He's super interested!]

Let's see. The heaviest Blue-somethin' tuna fish caught was like... 1,500 pounds! I bet that fed a pretty big family! If you could keep it cold, I mean. I used to fish on the river, but I never caught anything bigger than my hand... 'World's stretchiest skin'... Maybe this guy's a NEXT. I know I met someone just like that at the Hero Academy.

[flippity page flip!! Wait, this one--]

24 inch long fingernails?? How the heck do you even eat...? Some people sure are strange...

S'kinda weird how most of these would be easy for Luceti, though, huh? Like this guy here, he can break 90 concrete blocks in 10 seconds. That's not too hard here, I think. I'm sure I could do it... Oi, or--!! This guy here, he threw someone 17 feet. [a laugh] I definitely know a lot of people who can beat that record!

[He nods toward an open space, moving out into it before falling into a basic ready stance. A chance to spar against someone who isn't from home, who won't be predictable... He's been wanting the challenge.]

I am Neji, by the way.

I'm Kotetsu! [He gets into a stance himself--standing at a sideways angle, hands carefully positioned in front of him--but then he gives pause and blinks.] Ah--are you one of those super powered types? I'm a pretty normal fella without my NEXT power.

[Sorta. Kinda.]

I wouldn't call myself super powered, but I do have some particular abilities it seems that people outside my world don't share.

[He offers a small, crooked smile] Still, though, I can withhold the use of those abilities. Training the body alone has a great deal of value.

[By not asking about the NEXT power, he's being polite as ninja see it; you don't pry into the special abilities of people you just met, not unless you're nosy or planning to have to fight them all-out.]

Aaaa, alright then! Let's just have ourselves a good ol' fashioned brawl! [I AM A LARGE FAN OF OLD FASHIONED. Pardon him while he goes back to that stance he had.] Let's go, pal!

[And Neji goes ahead to take the first strike; as promised, he's not going for the nervous system, just a light, exploratory opening strike, get a sense of what he's dealing with.

Live opponents are the best for sparring.]

[Kotetsu's fast for an 'oyaji', people gotta' give him that much. He steps sideways and avoids the strike, one forearm poised for defense, his left fist speeding toward Neji's side as he does so--if he could just jab, get the tender place on the ribs before the other moves, he'd land a good hit.

Also ignore the blue glow in the icon. That's not supposed to be there. :|a]

[Not bad, for a self-professed 'normal.' Neji twists away from the hit rather than blocking it, carrying the twist into a low-swept kick. Spirals, always spirals with him; he likes it that way.]

((and forgive me, I am no kind of martial artist so my sense of how to write hand to hand is very shaky XD))

[He hops his lanky-ass legs up, landing a little ungracefully on his feet--but hey, he's really not half bad! Kotetsu's not much of a leg fighter, so he sweeps in once he avoids the kick to try and hit Neji in mid-spiral, hoping to hit him where his kidney'd be.

GO GO GO TEAM]

[If Neji were going all-out, trying to attack him like that would end hilariously. But he's not, and Kotetsu actually manages a glancing strike before he twists away, staggering a little from the impact. Ouch, that was tender!

Neji pulls back a few strides, regathering himself before moving in on the offensive again. He's agreed not to use any chakra for this fight, but there are applications of the Gentle Fist that don't require chakra. Pressure points are a wonderful thing. He darts in with sharp, precise jabs, going for a numbing strike.]

[The sharp jabs scrape his side as he leaps backward to try to refocus his stance and mind; he stands sideways in his usual pose, hands still fists. He does flinch and wince, though, at the aftermath of the stabbing movements of Neji's strike. Looks like Kotetsu isn't the only one who can dish out tender bruises...]

Oi, oi, not bad...!

[Neji draws back as well, circling with a wary smirk.]

Likewise.

[He'll have to be faster to get the pressure points properly... which he can certainly do. This is starting to get fun.

Neji darts in again, kicking his speed up a notch as he strikes, aiming for Kotetsu's upper arm and shoulder to disrupt the nerve clusters.]

[CRAP CRAP CRAP--you ninjas and your speed thing! He feels a pinch in his arm and shoulder, and it's certainly unpleasant. But!! Gotta keep persevering! He takes Neji by the shirt with his good hand and twists around swiftly, shoving downward in the hopes that he'll slam into the ground long enough for Kotetsu to get an edge in.]

[Yeah, damn ninjas, so inconvenient like that! Neji drops, but his hands clamp onto Kotetsu's arm, pulling him down as well. You wanna grapple? He'll grapple. Let's see just how interesting this can get.]

Ha! Doing good...

[This kid's pretty fast on his feet. Fast at grappling, too! Kotetsu rolls himself with a grunt, putting his leg between him and Neji in an attempt to flip him off. He's pretty used to being tossed down as it is, anyway.]

[Neji takes the flip, rolling gracefully to his feet and rushing Kotetsu, ready to strike again as soon as possible. It's fun, sparring against someone who he's never faced before, and from an entirely different world, no less!]
