[The first sensation Kotetsu feels is pain: a headache, which is already pounding away at his temples; there's just darkness at the moment. He can feel that his eyes are closed, hearing an inhuman sigh--a lion?--and it's pretty weird because it sort of sounds like it's coming from himself. But that wouldn't make sense. It's a few minutes later that he feels his body twist and change, but he can't snap himself awake despite his mental efforts. When he finally cracks open his eyes, he's acutely aware something is really weird.

That is, he's laying on Barnaby's couch naked. With a collar hanging off his neck. With no memory of how he got there.

...

Oh my christ.

He leaps up in horror, throwing a blanket off him. For some reason, his balance is weird, because he feels like two legs just isn't enough; there's a crash as he collapses forward into the table, knocking his journal around--just a short, horrified sort of message is sent out in the process--]

What the hell--

Where are my cloth--

[Ooooouuurgh. He feels his stomach churn--must've been the food he last ate, not that he remembers, and he slaps a hand over his mouth, stumbling to his feet as he drags the blanket with him. In no time he's in the bathroom leaning over the toilet, retching the last remains of a particularly not!human meal. Just gonna... sit here for a second. Phewwwww.]

[Voice]

[Okay. Once things are all sorted out and these hangover symptoms of his experiment are settled, he finally realizes he accidentally sent out a voice message over the journals. Can't let it be just that, since... you know, he didn't want to worry anyone with terror. So he composes himself, itching his hairline in embarrassment. He's finally remembering bit by bit of his tiger experiences. Huh. Weird.]

Naa, I guess I... uh, was pretty weird these last two weeks. If you ran into a tiger, thanks a lot for keeping me company!

I hope I didn't cause anyone too much... trouble...

[He's thinking of you specifically, Nami.

Aaand he groans, rubbing a hand across his face.]

I'm never eating meat again.

[Which is a total lie, but whatever. He'll be out and about if you want to meet him in person; the grocery store, to apologize for wrecking havoc on their deli while he's there, to the restaurant to get some real food in his stomach, and then maybe the orchard to make sure it's not... completely... ruined. :|]

[ barnaby just. glances over his shoulder and eyes the deep gouges on the wall in the hallway behind him where a certain kitty was sharpening his claws. ]

[ actually you were kind of cuter that way how about you just change back ]

[He looks over to the wall and cringes. At... least the walls repair themselves? Eventually...]

Yeaaah, sorry about that. And the kitchen.

[... Oh. He snaps his fingers.]

That's right! I woke up in the forest, and a little girl and a woman petted me.

[Wait, that thought throws him off-track, too...]

Mooou, what the heck was wrong with them; you should know better than to pet a wild animal like that...

[ kotetsu there are about seven thousand things wrong with that statement and yet you haven't zeroed in on any of them.

[He moves to stand up, feeling unstable. But better than when he'd woken up, at least.]

I think I just need to move around a little—get my... whaddya' call it? Equilibrium back!

[ yeah you're lucky that you have such a kind, responsible aibou that went and found all those stupid beads for you!!

oh jeez bunny hops to his feet, standing near just in case kotetsu decides that it might be a good idea to fall over. but so far so good. ]

Mm, I'll prepare something for you. Please, try not to hurt yourself.

[Oh good, because he trips himself up enough to need someone keeping him from falling over like a failure. You'd be surprised how weird muscles feel after warping from one breed to another. It's around this time that he realizes Barnaby's really been taking care of him. Not like a casual 'hey how you doin', but actually keeping an eye on him and making sure he's been alright as a tiger.

So the Kaburagi guilt trickles into his voice, as he pats Barnaby's arm with a sheepish grin.]

Oi, you don't need to go and do that; I've been causing you enough trouble this last few weeks, right?

[He can make himself a peanut butter sandwich or something. Yeah!]

[ barnaby is. surprised. why so change of heart, old man? barnaby just sort of stands their quietly for a few moments, then finds himself and shakes his head, turning to step out into the hallway. ]

It's fine. Really. You should probably take a day or so to rest up, and I don't have anything to do.

I mean— [He looks down, some shadow of guilt passing his features, before he shakily but carefully starts out of the room, into the living room. And as usual, he fumbles for the right way to word this. Which mainly sounds like a whine, of course.] You've already done plenty for me, Bunny!

I don't wanna be a [burden?] nuisance, or anything.

[Like I have been, recently. Like. Like a lot of times. He really fears falling into that sort of position, you know. Being a walking distress signal.]

[ .. all of this guilt. it's so unnecessary.

but .. barnaby understands. he's felt the same way, before, after kotetsu dove in front of lunatic's fire to protect him. he'd felt awful, after that, for days on end, though he'd tried to hide it. he'd been nothing but cold toward kotetsu, he'd been selfish and arrogant and petty, and kotetsu had taken the hit for him anyway.

so he's sympathizing, here. the ghost of a smile appears at the corners of his mouth. ]

You aren't a nuisance. Think of it as repayment. this is your only free meal; you're on your own after this.

[ .. or, well. maybe after lunch, or dinner. he'll give it twenty-four hours. ]

[... That's.

Really nice, actually.]

[He smiles, those pent-up feelings rolling off his shoulders.

Well. Can't go feeling that way for too long. It'd ruin the air, wouldn't it?]

... Alright, then. Breakfast does sound too good to pass up, anyway.

[ and he's off down the hallway now, and stepping into his boots. ]

H-hey, if you're not giving me a choice, you can at least wait for me! [But he's grinning nevertheless, because this is a good thing to come back from, right? TIME FOR FOOD! Overall, not a bad transition, he thinks.]

[ he kneels to tighten up his boots, then pulls his jacket from the peg on the door and slips it on. ]

It's not like I'm going very far. You might want to find a shirt, first. I'll be in the kitchen.

A shirt... Mmm, maybe I should hit up my apartment, then and actually put some decent clothes on...

[He's walking like he's in the dark, his hands out in front of him, but at least he's doing a really great job at keeping his lanky legs balanced and moving. Eaaasy. He shuffles determinedly past Barnaby.]

[ .. oh kotetsu. FINE IF YOU FALL DOWN IT'S ON YOU.

barnaby shakes his head and closes the door to his apartment, leaving kotetsu to his own devices and heading off toward the kitchen.

but hmm.. WHAT TO COOK. ]

[He actually decides to take a shower because man, he hasn't had a decent shower in like weeks. So he stumbles in and double-checks for giant spiders before he scrubs down and gets some clothes on. Familiar, but deconstructed: green oxford lazily buttoned, black pants, not even bothering with shoes.

He walks back in looking far more balanced, hair still wet because his limbs are kind of heavy and he's getting hungrier and hungrier. With this is mind he plops down at the counter and spies on Barnaby.

WHATCHU' MAKING, RABBIT??]

[ barnaby is quick and time-efficient, so by the time kotetsu comes tumbling out of his rooms again, barnaby is juggling three separate pans - cooking pancakes, bacon and eggs all at the same time because he's just that good.

after kotetsu sits down, barnaby slides him a glass of orange juice without missing a beat, and flips the pancake that's browning in the pan. ]

You look better.

Feel a little better.

He should really learn how to do some of that.]
